Dear Readers,
You might be interested to know our philosophy for
art in schools. We believe that students should be able to immerse oneself
in the beauty (or horror) of art, as engaging with both the creation and
analysis of art in its varied forms helps students to make sense of their
world. The benefits of a rich arts foundation spill over from the 'art
room' and across the curriculum, enabling students a deeper understanding of
school subjects and broader life issues.
We believe that being able to produce and critique
art gives real power to students and help them to express themselves, and can
help students to build self-efficacy. In this day and age where the mental
health of even our youngest students be they low or high SES, migrants and
refugees, those with a disability and others can be damaged by a modicum of
life experiences and the ability to express oneself is paramount and while we
are no aspiring artists we genuinely value the experiences that learning
Art gives to humanity.
